About the writer:
LARRY D. THOMAS, the 2008 Texas Poet Laureate, has published twenty-four print collections of poems and numerous online chapbooks, the most recent of which is Mississippi River Delta: A Bestiary (Buttonhook Press, Pamphlet Series).  Thomas has also been privileged to publish two other online collections in the Buttonhook Press Pamphlet Series, a collection in the press’s Chapbook Series, and a pamphlet in the Hot Button Press imprint of Open: Journal of Arts & Letters.

Although Thomas’s ekphrastic poems have been noted by critics as a significant aspect of his poetic oeuvre, Stories Begging Color (Poems of Ekphrasis) is his most comprehensive collection of poetry dedicated entirely to this demanding literary form, exploring not only several artistic media (oil on canvas, oil on linen canvas, wood carving, photography, tempera, porcelain, etc.) but also the technical elements of artistic execution.
