We post notice whenever a clown drive is expected to come through. While some clownherds maintain an orderly herd, others cut corners with the help, do not put enough time into preparing the herd. Almost anything can startle an ill-tempered herd. Stampedes have been known to let clowns mingle into town services, or end up improvisationally performing on citizens’ porches. The cost of a stampede always falls on the town, the profit of an orderly drive on the circus. One stampede swept away an elderly citizen, who then took up clownery herself. We look for her in every passing herd.
