Cassady O’Reilly-Hahn
Eviction

The birds have nested
in papa’s old chair
and my jeans are bundled
in the rose bush. The piano
looks picturesque overturned
on the pavement and the ashes
from her urn carpet the stairs nicely.
So nicely, I may overlook where tires
tarred my childhood pictures,
especially those in the street,
the ones from the house on the hill
that still have kumquat juice stuck
to their glossy, yellowed edges.
