YOU THE FALLEN ANGELS

Tethered to my ceiling, you inhuman chandeliers,
you flightless balloons, swaying on the thin-
skinned ceiling, halfway up, between the floor
and the rest of my life. I sit and wonder, why
did you fall? Was it to test God’s love? How
did you get blown so off course—as to end up—
in my office, neither alive nor dead,
but resting, silently supping on the silver orbs
bubbling up out of your mouths? Your wings,
metal feathers, resonate, settle, and sing
every time I admit, aloud, how much I love
to stand up and bump heads, collide, and kiss.
