Through The Auto Salvage Yard’s Garden
Wet tire tracks disappear on the pavement and then adrift and they went past the rain, the puddle of Chevy oil multi-coloring the water. I should know the rainbow inside of it: green and alive, waiting with springtime in the beds of flower heads. How it lies: I’ll make plans to come see you. I’ll come after when we are all waiting for something to come back and most forgot the face of God already drained in floodwater that washed blood away—even the lamb’s. Pale, dimly lit, the half wool flesh not realizing how empty the blue sky was until the rainbow ended, still needing to promise something. It’ll take a pause, leave off midair like voice throttle caught but where do we go when we need to return? I ask you. Your wrecked four walls, four jammed doors answering for you, hiding until there is rust, until there is only a faint outline of what it once was.
