You Asked Me in a Bar

Liebespaar by Otto Mueller

You asked me in a bar
how many women have you slept with
and I told you I don’t know.
and if I were to say
you were the last
that would be honest too.
My usual answer:
about 12 is a lie.
The person I’d been with
last, is usually,
a lie too.
if I were to say
I see your face when I close my eyes
that would be the realest
thing I could ever say.
Your voice moves in me
like my tongue on your thigh
my fingers inside you,
your hands on my arms
your legs on my shoulders.
i only have the truth for you.
if I were to say I miss you
you might tell me
I don’t know. but you tell me
you breathe me in on your pillow.
if I were to say
I love that,
that would be honest too.
