WHO WILL SAVE US?

Autumn Landscape by Harald Sohlberg

In the waking there’s the dreaming, in the dreaming
only ghosts. In the ER, a man in a samurai jacket tends
his moaning sister. I shudder. Gravity weighs me down,
though I try to remember all of us are stardust.
And somewhere bees huddle in a maze of fog
and smoke, and hummingbirds light on aloe torches,
and the cedar tree cradles the broken eucalyptus branch.
The rain is absent again, and the sun silent
as stars run through me like blood.
My veins light up the night.
