Abbie Doll

seasonal whirlwind disorder

Landscape with Sunset by Thomas Nordwest

the only thing more infectious
than covid-19
is the autumn phenomenon
of waiting for fall!, wait-
ing for that crisssp                  air
signaling the start of
flannel season &
pumpkin spiced everything
from ramen to bath salts
from tampons to pickles
there ain’t nothing
that can’t be enriched
with a shot of pumpkin spice
& once i spot that first
pumpkiny product
(however nonsensical!)
i’m psyched to toss summer
down the drain—
like a used napkin       or
crummy wad of tp
down
.                  down
.                                     down
the crapper ‘cause
i’m done
.                    done
.                                    done
with long sunny days
& everything being green &
i’m ready to watch it all
die
.                die
.                                 die
to fade into a
brilliant burning sunset
i’m ready for the season
to change, ready to change
my outfit change
my wardrobe change
my whole damn mindset
& if someone don’t
keep me in check,
i’ll put a tree up
before the first leaf even ~f a l l s~
