About the writer:
LARRY D. THOMAS, the 2008 Texas Poet Laureate and a member of the Texas Institute of Letters, has been privileged to publish a poetry chapbook (Letting the Light Work: Poems of Mexico) with the Buttonhook Press imprint of Open: Journal of Arts & Letters (O: JA&L) and three poetry pamphlets, the most recent of which is Musing the Crossroads: Poems of the Mississippi River Delta (Hot Button Press imprint).  Although primarily known as a poet of the American West, he has dedicated most of his writing and publication efforts since 2017 to work inspired by the Mississippi River Delta.  Of deep Southern heritage, Thomas’s grandparents (three of whom were born and reared in the Mississippi River Delta; his paternal great-grandfather was born in Mississippi) and his parents, into their late twenties, worked as sharecroppers both in the Delta and in West Texas where Thomas was born and reared.
