Untitled #1
(after Li-Young Lee)
S.R. Aichinger

“Leaves” by Cagri Yilmaz, Istanbul.

In the night—

In the wind, at the edge
of the rain—

I expect too much
& cling to you
as if you were my child.

Last sip of damiana
a cloud on my tongue—

Electric thrumming in my ear—

This dream-pop trickle
smooths out
each crease of disappointment.
